WESLEY EMERY TO EMCEE GALA AFFAIR Wesley Emery, stake Mutual superintendent and emcee for the carnival program, acted as an unofficial un-official extension member of the chamber of commerce while on a mission in Tasmania from 1937 to 1939. Wes conducted a series of travel talks over the radio in the town of Launceston. His subject was the western states, but most of the discussion was on 'Salt Lake and Utah. Tasmania is about 18 hours' by boat from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and even though it is a comparatively short distance from the Anarctic Circle, they don't ever get snow in the town. Emery acted as mission district president in Victoria, and also played M Men basketball while I there.
