Show GRANARIES TO STORE GRAIN FOR RAINY DAY Under the direction of president George Aposhian, wards in WS1-ford WS1-ford stake are planning to erect Granaries on their chapel lota for the purpose of storing wheat to be made available to ward members. One granary will be built for each chapel, serving both wards which meet in the buildiner. Total capacity on each storage unit is 2200 bushels, 1100 bushels for each ward. President Aposhian reasoned that, even though general church authorities have advised all members mem-bers to store at least a year's supply of food, clothing and fuel against the day of scarcity, few individuals had the proper facilities facili-ties for storing wheat for bread and cereal. Last fall he proposed to bishops in his stake that they build grana. ries where ward members might have wheat stored on a community basis under proper storage conditions. condi-tions. All bishops agreed to cooperate on the program, and the materials necessary for building the steel granaries were ordered. Any surplus wheat from the stake farm will be pro-rated to the wards for storage, and ward members will purchase the grain needed to finish filling the granaries. grana-ries. The wheat will be held for a year, then sold if it has not been used. The money received will be spent to refill the bins so that there will always be a fresh supply of wheat on hand. Ward members may buy grain from the granary whenever they choose. |
