SPEAKERS PRAISE "17-2" RATING BOARD Women of the "17-2" Rationing Ration-ing Board of Salt Lake were honored hon-ored at the Wednesday meeting of the Sugar House Chamber of Commerce, which was held at . Knight's Tea Room, at noon, Hiram Hi-ram C. Young president presided, Mr. Young is chairman of the district rationing board. Gus P. Backman, Secretary of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, commended the local Rationing Ra-tioning Board for the efficient business methods, they have incorporated in-corporated in their office which serves approzimately 50,000 residents. resi-dents. Mr. Backman stressed the fact that rationing of commodities is a necessity, and not just regimentation regi-mentation as some persons would like to believe. He praised the women, who have assisted the board, for their interest and for the clerical work accomplished by their group. A. S. Brodhead, of the OPA office, Denver, Colorado, spoke briefly and commented on the well organized set-up of this district's dis-trict's board, saying that it was usually a call for assistance or to straighten out some dificulty that he was called in, which certainly cer-tainly was not so in his visit here. In addition to Mr. Backman and Mr. Broadhead, W. B. Richards Jr., and Wendell J. Ashton took part in the program. Vocal solos were given by Miss Mary Francis Schrack, a drrad-i drrad-i ate of Westnr inster college, Mrs. Rayiiond C. Walker was her accompanist. Special guests of honor attending attend-ing the luncheon meeting included includ-ed Mrs. A. H. Reiser, Mrs. Ralph B. Keddington, Mrs P. L. Stevenson, Steven-son, Mrs. Bryan P. Laverich. Mrs. E. W. Hilton, and Mrs. S A. Sherdeman. |
