Show Drama Teacher Opens Classes Evelyn Updegraff announced this week the opening of expression ex-pression and dramatic art classes at her home, 1882 South 10th East- Evelyn Van Natta Updegraff, a popular Reader and Mon-ologuist, Mon-ologuist, started this work at the early age of eight, showing unusual talent. Her teacher were some of the best in UtaN' at that time, one of these being Alphonsa Hovey, one of the players in the Salt Lake Theater. Thea-ter. She attended the Dramatic Art Department of the Schuster Music School, taking all subjects sub-jects offered, Public Speaking, Sight Reading, Personality, Pantomime, Pan-tomime, Stage Deparment, Elements Ele-ments of Speech, The Speaking Voice, Memory Training, Theory Theo-ry of Expression, Poise, Adaptation Adap-tation and Dramatization. She studied under Lief McManus and Gertrude Lqwell McManus while attending their Dramatic School, taking post graduate courses after her graduation from that school. She toured thJ Utah towns helping with Pro- duction and playing parts in the plays. She has taught in and around Salt Lake, private and class. Salt Lake City residents know her for her work with the young people in Drama and Public Speaking, in the various wards and stakes. She believes "The stated use of one method does not preclude the use of all others.'' |
