Show around the COR In N SUGAR HOUSE E With the Editor R A good many Bulletin readers read-ers have asked us if a decision has yet been made on the spelling spell-ing of Sugar House, or Sugar-house. Sugar-house. Hardly a day goes by that someone doesn't say how he thinks it should be spelled. Since the issue is still undecided, we have decided to print some of the comments so that all southeasterners will have a chance to make up their minds i on the matter. Dean Fisher, manager of the Fisher Jewelry Company, pointed point-ed out that he personally prefers pre-fers the one-word spelling. However, he said, if the pioneers originally named it with two words, he believes that form should be followed. Mrs. Theresa Harmon, a business bus-iness woman who has also had considerable experience teaching teach-ing young 'uns, said that the two-word spelling was much easier to read. To illustrate, Mrs. Harmon wrote out the two choices of spelling on a piece of paper. "Now which stands out better?" she asked. "When you teach children you quickly learn, that they read short words much quicker than long words. We adults are not much different." A local optometrist, Dr. Blair B. Ericson, said he favors the one-word spelling. "It's easier to write," Dr. Ericson said. John R. Burgess, a local printer print-er and veteran of 27 years in this area, prefers the two-word spelling. "We found long ago that it was much more flexible to use in commercial printing, in designs, in posters, and in all forms of the graphic arts," Mr. Burgess commented. Well, folks, there you have it. This week there is a split. Two favor Sugarhouse, and two favor fa-vor Sugar House. What do you think? Tuesday at 10 a.m. a squad of willing workers gathered at the Chamber of Commerce office to do a quick distributing job on the Style Show ticket boxes, rolls of tickets, and advertising posters. It was a good example of how well a job can be done if several people pitch in. Paul' Pehrson had penciled a map of the Sunr House business area from which he made route assignments. as-signments. Hoping that we won't miss any worker, we're going to name them and commend com-mend them for their good work: Tom Doxey, John C. Barnes A E. Smith.
