Show Tues. Chamber Meet Promises S. H. Progress in '51 Committee Heads To Report Year's Plans; Members Will Indicate Activity Preferences "Every chamber member active in some phase of community endeavor," is the objective of the Sugar House Chamber of Commerce Com-merce for 1951, according to Paul L. Pehrson, president. First step in a realization of that objective will be taken next Tuesday noon, Jan. 16, when the chamber members will meet at their regular monthly luncheon at the Beau Brummel Restaurant, 3100 Highland Drive. At that time, committee chairmen will outline out-line their plans for the year, and each chamber member will be given an opportunity to indicate his preferences for committee assignments. SLIPS DISTRIBUTED Slips will be passed out I among the members so that they may signify their interests in certain community projects as an aid to the board of directors di-rectors in assignment to committees, com-mittees, Mr. Pehrson said. COMMITTEE HEADS Standing committees which have been set up thus far by Mr. Pehrson are: Public affairs, Horace A. Sorensen, chairman; retail trades, Marriner H. Merrill; Mer-rill; membership, Ray D. Free; finances, F. R. Lawson; publicity, public-ity, Neisen R. Bank; program, A W. Hart. Mr. Pehrson will head a business development committee. All seven of these men are members of the chamber's cham-ber's board. In addition to these committees, there will be several special committees, Mr. Pehrson said. At a board meeting held last Wednesday at noon, the board laid out tentative (plans for the entire year, which will be discussed dis-cussed Tuesday with all the members. Several of the projects proj-ects slated to receive attention at the meeting are: the state park development at the Sugar House prison site; a public rest-room; rest-room; new business streets; retail re-tail promotions for the year; cleanup and beautification; parking lots; increased membership; member-ship; and promotion fund drive. IMPORTANT MEETING Mr. Pehrson labeled the meeting meet-ing as one of the most important import-ant of the year, and urged all members to be in attendance. |
