Show HIGHLAND PARK SPILLS SPERRY JUNIORS 13-12 No one seems to be able to1" guess just what will happen next in the Westminster Junior Basketball Bask-etball League. Sperry Juniors last week were heavy favorites to clinch the first half champiion-ship champiion-ship of the Junior Division with out any competition at all; this week they again stand iin a deadlock with Granite Furniture, Harry's Garage, and Highland Park. Highland Park uncorked a firm defensive stand which completely com-pletely suprised the Sperry Club in a 12-13 upset. Brennen, one of the classiest ball players in the league, led his team to their win with 7 counters. Saul with 6 points topped the bewildered Sperry team. The Parkers carried car-ried a 12-5 lead at half time but scored only one point against Sperry's during the second half. GRANITE FURNITURE TIPS BRYAN JUNIORS 19-17 IN EXTRA EX-TRA PERIOD Another feature game found Granite Furniture team barely bare-ly edging out a 19-17 win during an extra period of play. Reind-fleish Reind-fleish found enough holes in the Granite zone to give him 9 points which was high for the game. Dur ing the second half, the trailing Furniture squad tightened up and held Bryan to one field goal so that the score at the end of the regular playing time was a knotted knott-ed 17-17. Carl1 Paulson, Granite Furniture guard, swished a beautiful beau-tiful one handed shot through the nets for the 19-17 win. Mer-rell Mer-rell Davis and Bob Smith again sparkled for the winners while "Spug" Petty turned in a nice "tailing." Brower of Parleys with 12 points led his team to a 22-17 victory over the Dodgers in a fast game. Parleys carried a 17-2 lead at half time but coach !3rant Hemaley partially solved the problem so that his dodgers carried a 15-5 advantage during the second half. Averatt and Kjar each tallied 6 points to lead other oth-er scorers in the game. WASATCF3 SCARES HARRY'S GARAGE Another close tilt found Miller barely squeezing out a 14-12 win over Wasatch. Wasatch was slow getting started but ended up with some fast play which almost topped top-ped Harry's Garage scorers while "Roylance tossed in 8 counters foi Wasatch. Fowles and Osborne with 18 points between them tripped the dribbling Monarchs i23-9 in another an-other junior game. Harr scored five points for the Monarchs. BRYAN SENIORS SUPKISE AI'OSHIAN GARAGE IN LAST MINUTE OF PLAY The favored Aposhian Garage team carried a lead for an entire ball game and then watched their ball game go sky high when Glen Earl staged a rally which gave Bryan a 24-21 win. Earl with 12 points topped the Bryan scorers scor-ers while Wiley with 9 points and Neff with 6 topped the losing squad. In other senior tilts Andrus Livestock turned on the steam and submerged St. Pauls 32-6 while Sperry Seniors stopped Hawthorne 28-10. Lin Steed with 14 points again was high man for the Livestock quint while his teammate Poulton tallied four field goals. Harry Smith slipped in 16 points for Sperry's while Haymore " followed suit with 8. Berthold rang up 7 points for the Hawthorne five. |
