Show Honored With National Recognition' (Special to The Buliten) A Jordan high school graduate and two Murray high alumni were honored with national recognition re-cognition this week as word was received by the University of Utah that their names will appear in the latest edition of "Who's Who" in American Universities and Colleges. All senior students, the honored "Utes" include Miss Lois Powell Pow-ell and Wendell Paxton, formerly former-ly of Granite, and Robert L. Mc Mullin, graduate of Jordan high. Among 19 University of Utah students so-honored, these .students .stud-ents names were approved by a comittee of University deans and faculty members for mention in the book. Purpose of the annual publication is to served as an in- centive for students to obtain the most from their college careers, to honor students for outstanding service and as a standard of measurement meas-urement for collegiate accom plishments. McMullin is president of Skull and Bones, honorary junior men's organization, business manager of the Chronicle, student newspaper news-paper and an officer in the University Un-iversity Resarve Officers Training Train-ing Corps. A '36 graduate of Jordan, Jor-dan, he is majoring in business. Miss Powell is editor of ,the University's literary magazine. The Pen, and has authored poetry of wide publication. She was act- ive at Granite in speech, dramatics dram-atics and publications; she graduated grad-uated in 1937. Paxton is the present senior class president of the University and has been cheerleader for two years. A member of Pi Kappa Alpha social fraternity, he is currently cur-rently conducting for the University Univer-sity a contest for an official Alma j Mater song. |
