The historic northern invasion route through the t Champlain and Hudson valleys, ! where General Burgoyne met defeat de-feat by American colonials, is being j secured from foreign attack by a projected network of military plane 1 landing fields. i With military experts agreed that a foreign power most likely would , strike through the natural fissure in the Adirondack and New England mountain ranges, the Works Prog- ress administration has prepared for bombers and fighting planes. Saratoga county, scene of the American Revolution battle of 1777, has agreed to share with the WPA the cost of building a landing field to cover 100 acres. At least two other isolated landing land-ing fields will be constructed to defend de-fend the vital industrial East from "any possible invader from the air," according to WPA spokesmen. Lester W. Herzog, state WPA administrator, ad-ministrator, said development of the Saratoga field is in line with the national na-tional program to isolate war planes from large cities to remove any excuse ex-cuse for bombing civilians. The Saratoga field is approximately approximate-ly 15 miles from the Albany-Troy area, with its 400,000 population and vital industries.
