Show MEAT PRICE ROLLBACK DUE Maximum meat prices at retail re-tail will be lowered from three to seven cents a pound by the OPA effective June 21, H. Grant Irvine, OPA state director, said this week. Only exception will be cured cur-ed and processed pork, for which the effective date will be July 5. The subsidy program became effective Monday, June 7, as far as producers were concerned, with payments to be made by the De- flense Supplies ("Corporation, by class of livestock. j As in the case of rollback in the price of butter, the lowering of meat prices will not directly affect the farm producer. The subsidies will be paid to anyone who slaughters 4,000 pounds of meat or more per month. The ceiling prices on all fresh and frozen meats were reduced at the packer level1, June 14, and and will be reduced at the retail level June 21, the time lag being designed to meet inventory problems. |
