ST w N-r... vn 1 1 - P.O.STORY The larger trucks are used to carry mail to the storage boxes on the individual carriers route so that his initial load will not exceed regulations and he will have a central point at which to pick up mail in his area. As the volume of mail will sometimes some-times reach as high as 200. pounds per carrier the man of foot must have his load lessened. When a person mails a letter or parcel on which there is the proper amount of postage a contract con-tract is established with the Post Officee Department on which they are obligated to make delivery, as soon as possible. However, if a patron should put an obstacle in the way of the carrier which in some manner could result in physical injury, such as a vicious dog or icy steps in winter, the Department may request that the party call for his mail at the post office until the situation is remedied.
