Just how do we go about this? Would it be proper for us to hand the check to her at the wedding reception? KEITH DEAR KEITH: Handing a check to the bride at her reception would be in very poor taste. Correctly, send your check to her soon after the receipt of your wedding in-vitation. Dear Sally DEAR SALLY: I am a widow of 26, with two darling children ages four and two who mean a great deal to me. Fve been going with a man of 29 for almost a year now, and he says he's deeply in love with me. Tm sure I love him, too, but there's just one little fly in the ointment. He can't stand kids. Whenever one of my children comes into the room, he suggests that I have him play somewhere else. I keep telling myself that he's just not used to children and that after we're married he'll change. He keeps after me to set the date, but I hesitate because of the children. This man is per-fect except for this one little thing. What do you advise? CLARA. DEAR CLARA: What do you mean, "This man is perfect ex-cept for this one little thing?" This is just like saying a person is healthy except for one little disease. I'm glad that you have hesitated because of your two little children. Keep on hesitating, because a man who hates children before marriage is not apt to change afterward. Your life, and that of your children, would be just miserable, believe me! Silence is a true friend who never betrays. Confucius. |
