Show prp(iDUiimi(4l fcB do wnn Mr. and Mrs. J. Bracken Lee traveled to Denver and Colorado Springs last week, where Mr. Lec had speaking engagements. While they were in Colorado Springs, they were honored by friends at a reception, and feted at other parties. After the three day stay in Colorado, Mr. Lee Mrs. J. Bracken Lee will give a talk to the Alpha Chi Omega Mothers at the University of Utah March 6th. The subject of her discussion will be "Easter in Other Lands." She has gathered the material from several books, and promises an interesting subject tracing tht origin of the customs obfrr3 by the churches with whick are familiar. Some of tk customs, she relates, are prt-Christian prt-Christian era, and har Ima changed to fit the beliefs of tt modern churches. continued east to Ohio, where he will fill speaking engagements and Mrs. Lee returned home. Combining a surprise party for their Lt. Commander, Mari-lain Mari-lain Thompson with their first annual work party for their bazaar to be held in the fall, members of the Lady Maccabees, Macca-bees, Hive No. 27 met at the home of Record Keeper Ellen Wandell, 1912 Berkley St. on the evening of Jan. 23rd. In addition to the birthday wishes extended to the guest of honor, the ladies received the stamped pillow slips and the blocks for the quilt, on which they will begin work for their bazaar. Theresa Fehlman, present Commander of the Hive, assisted the hostess, Mrs. Wandell with the surprise and the refreshments refresh-ments which followed. A tea was served and a "Hat Show" presented by the Kathleen Kath-leen Clancy Circle of the Women's Society at the Christ Memorial Church on Tuesday February 11th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Mrs. Earl Johnson was the "program," and made a hat at the tea, which was . auctioned off. The women brought old hats and Mrs. Johnson gave pointers on how to remake the hats. Mrs. Johnson does hat making as a hobby, and not as a business she emphasized. Chairman of the ticket committee com-mittee is Mrs. Thomas Hill, chairmen of the food committee is Mrs. Phyllis Kramer, Mrs. B. S. Brooks was in charge of decorations, with Mrs. Charles Briggs as Circle Chairman, o o o Mr. and Mrs. Roger Merrill Van Frank, 1248 McClelland will be entertaining Mrs. J. Ronald Watkins, the mother of Mrs Van Frank, who is coming from Newburgh, New York. Mrs. Watkins will be staying for about two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Athas, 2660 Highland Drive, have just returned from a trip to sunny Los - Angeles, where it had been raining steady for a week before they got ' there, and rained during their entire visit. |
