Show New Presbyterian Church Organized At 3:00 on the afternoon of Sunday, Sun-day, October 6, the Cottonwood Presbyterian Church was formally organized by a committee of the Presbytery of Utah. This committee commit-tee was composed of the following follow-ing members: Dr. A. Walton Roth, field representative for Utah and Idaho; Dr. Donald G. Christiansen, Christian-sen, Pastor of the Wasatch Presbyterian Pres-byterian Church and chairman of the National Missions Committee; Dr. Alvin L. Morris, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Salt Lake City and moderator of the Presbytery of Utah and the Reverend Rev-erend D. Glen Cordell, trustee of of the organizing committee. Assisting the committee at the services were the Reverend Geo. Hirose, pastor of the Japanese Federated Church and Reverend S. Macon Cowles, pastor of the Holladay Community Church. At the meeting, held in the Lion's Club building at 5695, South Highland Drive, there were 35 charter memhers received. From this group, a board of six Elders was elected. Those selected were Mrs. Lawrence Schultz, Mrs. Fred Astroth, Mr. Franklin Fericks, Mr. Andrew Fairbairn, Mr. Sam Berry Ber-ry and Mr. Keith Bentley. On the Unified Board, three of these men were selected as new trustees, Mr. Fericks, Mr. Berry and Mr. Bentley. I |
