Worlunen are shown preparing the road for laying of new concrete. Two Youths Hurt As Car Crashes 9th East Barrier . Two youths suffered injuries injur-ies and were treated at the Salt Lake General Hospital Sunday night Treated for laceration of the chin and jaw was John LeRoy Gull, 16, of 1430 Woodland Ave., and George Ramjone, 17, of 1642 E 33rd S., was treated for a head injury, shock, and missing teeth. According to Deputy Sheriff Sher-iff Keith Iba, who investigated the mishap occured Sunday at 8:15 p.m. near 5500 S. 9th E., when the car in which the youths were riding, driven by John Gull, crashed through a barracade and dropped into foot-deep depression where a section of the road had been excavated to replace black-topping black-topping with concrete. Officer Iba said lighted 'flares had been set out and were burning, burn-ing, and wooden barricades were set up on both sides of the excavated section. Also ' sufficient and convenient space was provided on both sides for traffic to go around the section being repaired. t Damage to the vehicle, a 1952 Ford, was estimated at "total". Front wheels and chassis were buckled backward by the Impact Im-pact when the car hit the concrete con-crete on the far side of the scooped out section. |
