Show EMC Lions Stage Fund Raising 'Kickof f Thursday night, October 10, 1957 at Harmon's Cafe, 21st So. and 13th East, the East Mill Creek Lions will hold its "Kick Off-dinner Off-dinner meeting which will start the ball rolling for its annual Community Birthday Calendar fund-raising project. Money raised will again be earmarked ear-marked for the Club's Barbecue Center in East Mill Creek Park, which is a $15,000 structure started start-ed by the Club in 1955. The outdoor out-door picnic shelter is being built to provide a meeting place for summer picnics, concerts, family reunions, etc. and will be available avail-able to all East Mill Creek organizations or-ganizations FOR FREE when it is completed. It is hoped the money raised this year in the Birthday Calendar Calen-dar drive will be sufficient to complete com-plete the structure this coming year. The Birthday Calendar project is under the direction of Harvey Penney as Chairman, assisted by Keith Bertola as head of the publicity pub-licity committee; ; William B. Nelson Nel-son and Robert J. Kaelin are team captains. John W. Fitzgerald Fitzger-ald is in charge of Special Events to be listed in the Calendar. The entire Club membership will participate par-ticipate in selling the Calendars to residents of the East Mill Creek area. The Team Captains have divided divid-ed the area in two parts North and South of 33rd South, and a hot political campaign for the most sales of Calendars by each team will be conducted. The losing team will be required to buy a dinner for the winners. And the winners will eat Kentucky Fried Chicken while the losers eat beans. A Victory Party of the entire Club membership is -being planned for sometime during the Holiday season. Mrs. Dorothy Folland made arrangements ar-rangements for a luncheon and business meeting for 12 guests. Mrs. G. Liddell was hostess at a bridge luncheon for four ladies. Mrs. Gertrude Reid gave a birthday dinner for David and six well-wishers Wednesday evening. even-ing. Mrs. B. Pace made arrangements arrange-ments for Pamela's birthday party-Wives and sweethearts of Sugar House Lions Club members took the spotlight Monday night in gay, colorful aprons. They were guests at an overall and apron party featuring a delicious deli-cious steak dinner and dancing. Gene Clissold served as chairman of the event, attended by some 40 couples. |
