Show 'Twixt Us Teens by Tlbby Tucker TEEN TALK. Everyone is chattering chat-tering these days about the exciting ex-citing benefit ball sponsored by the Polio Foundation and taking place this Friday evening in the new Union Building rn the University of Utah campus. Naturally the teens are talking because the dance is for them. The first of its kind in the valley. Why just imagine, friends, a chance to be with all the darling students from all the junior high and high schools in town! Just imagine! Think of the new contacts . . think of the fun . . think of the glamor . . think of the good you'll be doing by attending. Your dollar admission will help finish the job on polio. Of course, I, Tibby, think it's a perfectly wonderful idea and hope that all of you teens will get on up there Friday evening. A fourteen piece orchestra will play; refreshments will be served; door prizes galore will be given away; a queen will be crowned. And speaking of queens, Jackie Lee Farr, West; Sue Breinholt, East; Frances Campanaro, South; Mary Lynne Marsh, Highland are among those competing for the glamorous good-will crown. Be sure you go . . . and this affair should be dutch-treat, you know 'coz it's a benefit. FASHION FAD: Have you seen the new matador ties the girls are wearing with their be-ruffled shirts these days? Long narrow strips of satin, gaily embroided with jewels and sequins or heavily embroidered em-broidered in quaint Latin stitches. They are absolutely the prettiest bit of frippery we've seen tied 'round a teen's neck. Many girls are making their own . . . and finding find-ing the effort a real creative one. PARTY LINE: 1 Slumber on . . . if you can get to sleep at such a do! I, Tibby, can't quite figure out how we teens keep up the pace of parties, school work, activities, church and home tasks! But comes the gay chance to get together . . . just us girls ... for all through the night, who cares if we're tired the next day? Such a fun-fest fun-fest was given recently by Pat Haight with pot-luck fixings furnished fur-nished by Sally Breinholt, Susan Bircumshaw, Kay Frandsen, Carolyn Caro-lyn Craven, Carolyn Budd, Sherry Horton, TruDee Warren, Marjorie Meadows, Susan Recourt, Peggy Dunn, Carol Bitner, Penny Razor and Susan Jenkins. MANNER MATTERS: Question for today . . . are you a good committee com-mittee member? Do you show up at chorus practice, play rehearsal, dance committee, or assembly discussion dis-cussion group (etc., etc.) when you should ... or just when you can't find anything better to do? If something more exciting comes along do you toss your obligations to the wind, and do what you want? I, Tibby, surely hope you aren't such a foolish teen. By the time you blow out a teen-ful of candles on a birthday cake, 'tis high time you were dependable. If you're hot, you'll soon be left out of committees . . and fun . . and then friendly gatherings! |
