Salt Lake Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber-shop Quartet Singing in A-mer- ica almost has more head-lin- er talent than it can use, Mr. Hancuff says. This blessing and or problem came to light during prepara-tions for the chapter's annual Parade of Quartets. The Parade will be held this year at South High auditorium on Friday and Saturday, November 14 and 15 at 8:15 pjn. sharp. This will be the tenth an-niversary Parade and will head-line no less than five nationally known musical groups. Included will be the Evans quartet of Salt Lake !and Ogden. The Evans group copped the 5th place in international com-petition .this year. Two of .their numbers were recorded for a , disc which was released last week and may be obtained at local music stores. Also headlined will be another local group, the Tonicords. This quartet specializes in comedy routines while maintaining high musical standards. Mr. Hancuff sing3 bass in this group. Local talent also Includes tho Beehive Statesmen, chapter chorus. Informally," they refer to themselves as "half a hun-dred mountain boys." This chorus is believed to be the largest chorus in the SPEBS QSA. Imported talent for the Parade includes the No.2 quartet of the world - . the Pitchhikers of Springfield, Missouri. The For-do-mati- cs, a Seattle quartet, will also appear. This group is Evergreen District champion. Evergreen : ( district covers the Pacific Northwest states and part of Canada. . Playing: a return engagement ' from thej 1957 Parade is the Haywire Orchestra of San " - ; Gabriel, California. This organ- - v ': - V . ization proved a real crowd' .' pleaser last year.
