Ellon, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, who are making their home with their son-in-la- w and daughter, Mr and Mrs. S. H. Gun-derso- n, 1008 Hollywood Ave. have been enter-tained recently by the Gundersons. Mr. Elton, a prominent barister of Canada, is retired and will devote his time to writing. Pi Phi County Fair The Lyndon Daynes Snow resi-dence, 231. 11th Ave., will be the setting for the Phi Beta Phi an-nual fund raising event. The theme will be a County Fair and will take on the typical fair atmosphere with booths, Olde Gift Shoppe, cake sale, games and hand-mad- e items, the main attrac-tion for the event. Those on committees for the party include Mrs. Kynn S. Scott, chairman; Mrs. Edward F. Foil-an- d, assisted by Mrs. Andrew R. Hurley, Mrs. Kenneth P. Burbridge, Mrs, John G. Mor-rison, Mrs. John P. Creer, Mrs. John D. Owens, Mrs. David C. Thomas, Mrs. Spencer W. Claw-so- n, Mrs. Ronald G. Lett, Mrs. Douglas R. Johnson. Others included Mrs. Earl P. Staten, Mrs. D. Dean Spear and Mrs. Edward C. Judd. Successful Retreat The annual church retreat for the Holladay Community Church was held Sept. 13, 14 and 15 at the YMCA Camp above Kamas. Theme of the affair was "Why The Church" and the main text was "In. But Not of The World" by Robert Spike. Bob Vickory was chairman and was assisted by Bob and Arlene Matteson, Joy Mays, Ruby Ham-mel- s, Peter Berchovitz, Lucy Po-well, John and Betty Brown, Har-ry and Pat Fisher, Charlie and Grace Elliott, Larry and Carolyn Anderton, Bob and Elinore JJones, Blair and Virginia Burwell. John and Annette Church, Jenny Cow-e- ls and Peter Lowe. Second Lt. Leo A. Jardine, Jr., whose parents live at 13S1 Rob-erta St., completed the officer ba-sic course Sept. 4 under the Re-serve Forces Act program at the Army's Finance School, Fort Ben-jamin Harrison. Ind. Lieutenant Jardine attended the elementary finance officer course as part of his six months active duty training commitment. He will complete the remainder of his ac-tive duty tour with the Finance Center at Fort Harrison. The lieutenant is a 1955 grad-uate of the University of Utah and is a member of Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity. His wife, Judith, lives in Fortville, Ind. The lovely bride greeted guests at the reception in a floor-lengt- h model of pure silk ivory satin. I The gown was styled with capj sleeves, and empire waistline. The sheath skirt was enhanced by aN Cathedral train. Attending the bride were Mrs. Boyd Redford, maid of honor, andj Mrs. Boyd A. Wright, matron of honor, dressed in identical gowns of peacock green crystelette; Mrs. Thomas ,Chaliis, Mrs. Kenneth Rex Curtis, Mrs. Neil Gygi, and Miss Miriam Weller, bridesmaids. Junior bridesmaid was Miss Gaye Lythgoe and petitie Susan Bradshaw was flower girl. Best man was J. Thomas Greene and ushers were Ray Phil-lips, Jack Goaslind, TheronFols-om- , Burton Cassity, Kay Worth-- 1 ington, Elwood Crandall. Elmer Hogge, Vernon B. Romney, Ber-nard M. Tanner, Dennis Lythgoe and Thomas Lythgoe. The bride has been the inspira-tion for many lovely pre-nupti- al parties. Carnival Seminary Party A carnival party will begin the year for the students of the Olym-pus High Seminary, Thursday af-ternoon from 4 to 10 p.m. The students will gather in Fair-mont Park, 2245 McClelland St., for the big affair. Woods Party Meet Some years ago Mrs. Helen Hatch Woods started what is now known as the Woods Party. There are twelve members and they meet one Saturday each month. They had their monthly meeting last Saturday, Sept. 14. Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Roestenberg were hosts at a dinner for their office staff and their wives at 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening. Mr. Roestenberg is owner of the D.M. Roestenberg and Sons Machine shop. Z BUTLER SECOND WARD PRESENTS ROAD SHOW East Jordan Stake's Butler Se-cond Ward, under Bishop Clyde Buxton, is presenting a Road Show, "Nursery Rhymes," to be presented Sept. 23, 24 and 25. Over 25 Mutual members will be parti-cipating. "The Owl and the Pussycat" has been decided on for the theme for the combined Butler Second and Fourth Ward participation. LuWanna Denning has been dra-ma director, Glen and Glenna Dodge are doing scenery and pa-per mache, Shauna Rudd and Va-lo- ra Sharp are in charge of cost-umes, and Connie Mosher and Pat Salisbury are in charge of the music. Joy Walker is in charge of the dance. Mrs. Leo Mosher is program and recreational direc-tor. Primary Plans Fall Convention A two-sta- ke Primary convention is being planned for September 21 at the Garden Heights chapel. The two stakes represented will be Wil-for- d Stake and Canyon Rim Stake. It will be from about 9 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon. All the wards will meet there, officers, board members and tea-chers will be there. There will be instructions from the board mem-bers. New arrival-Congratul- ations are in order for the Rev. and Mrs. E. R. Gallag-her, 3211 Margie Street. Their new son, Stephen Dale Gallagher was born August 15,- - weighing seven pounds and 15 ounces. Two-ye-ar old Michael George Gallagher is quite impressed with his tiny bro-ther. Proud grandparents are Mrs. J. W. Dyche, of Oklahoma City, Ok-lahoma and Mrs. George Gallag--; her of Montrose, Colorado. j Mrs. Dyche recently arrived! from Oklahoma City and has been staying with her daughter since the first of August. ACQUILAS RETURN Just returned from a trip to the! -- Pacific Northwest are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Acquila and family. While there they visited the beach, went deep sea fishing and caught three salmon. They were "canned while you wait," said Mrs. Ac-quila. The Acquilas dug clams and had clam chowder as a spe-cial treat. They said water skiing, swimming, fishing on the Colum-bia River and the enjoyment of the wonderful weather helped spotlight the two-wee- k trip for them. Clements' Entertain Mr. and Mrs. Dan S. , Clement, 1765 White Ave., have been en-tertaining newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn R. Bronson of Coun-cil Bluffs, Iowa. Mrs. Bronson is a sister of Mrs. Clement. The cou-ple were married Sept. 7th in Council Bluffs. They will return there by way of Jackson Hole and the Jetons. Mr. Bronson is a drug-gist and they will make their home in Council Bluffs.' John Elzingas Honeymoon A wedding breakfast was held at the Beau Brummel Restaurant, Sept. 9th for newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Richard John Elzinga and: twenty-thre- e of the wedding par-- i ty. The couple was married Mon-day morning in the Latter-Day- ! Saints Temple. Mrs. Elzinga is the former Ag- - nes C. Lewis, daughter of Mr.j and Mrs. D. Dennis Lewis of 1876 Claybourne Ave. She attended the University of Utah and was affi-liated with the Lamba Delta Sig-- ; ma Sorority. The groom is son of Mrs. Hildur Elzinga of 352 Har-vard Ave. Mr. Elzinga served with the U.S. Army in Korea and is currently attending the University; of Utah and is working toward his PH. D in Entomology. He was already received his Bachelor of( Science degree and his Masters degree and is affiliated with the Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Xi-an- d Lamba Delta Sigma Fraternities, After their honeymoon, the cou-ple plan to return to Salt Lake City and make their home here.!
