They will serve light refreshments. They will start Saturday, June 21. Summer Primary begins this week in the morning at 10 a.m. rather than in the afternoon. District Dance Festival June 6 at Jordan Park. Theme: "Spring Swing." There will be dances and five stage acts. Cottonwood Stake will present one of the five stage acts. Their theme, "June Is Busting Out All Over." Stake Temple Day for Ward Officers and Teachers., of Relief Society is June 11. Cottonwood 1st Ward Relief Society closing social, Rose Tying ceremony Tues., May 27. Cottonwood 2nd Ward news: Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Peder-so- n announce marriage of daughter Deane Pederson and Greg Thomas, June 9. Vesta Ward had a poem published in Relief Society magazine. Howard Stevenson will leave shortly for Belgium as an ex-change student from Granite High School. Cottonwood 3rd Ward news: Graduating class of '58 will long remember their gradua-tion which was followed by the measles. Hess and Ann Manning of 6224 Boxwood Road had a 7 lb. 2 oz. boy May 24. Rose Tying for MIA Maids this Wednesday. Cottonwood 4th Ward Girls softball games start this week. So. Cottonwood Ward news: Al Mulder's explorer class went rabbit hunting May 31. South Cottonwood ward find3 three honor bees participating in Swarm night June 1. Relief Society having break-fast honoring visiting teachers. Also Book Renew by Mrs. Harold Kelley. Fred Finlason and Bill Collet are going on the Colorado Piver Trip June 10 for 8-- 9 days. David Finlason went to Lemington to work on his grandfather's ranch for the summer. South Cottonwood Ward pre-sents "Singing Saints" June 6, by their choir, Earl Ottley, director. Gary Ward of So. Cottonwood 2nd Ward leaves for the Great Lakes Mission on June 9th. Sherry McKay and Ronald Birch of So. Cottonwood 2nd to marry June 20th. Births in the So. Cottonwood ward were to Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Gygi a boy, May 7, and to Mr. and Mrs. Baxter, a girl on May 31st. Canyon Rim By Linda Bird The girls of Rose Crest Ward are going to be really busy this summer trying to raise $300. The money will go to-ward the new Girls MIA Lodge in Provo Canyon. The girls of the ward have been split up into three groups. Each group is trying to see who can raise $100 first Various projects have been planned to raise money, such as bakery and candy sales, car washing and mowing lawns. All the money must be earn-ednone of it can come from Mom and Dad. The first group to get their $100 will be treat-ed to a short camping trip at the Provo Girl's Home site. Emil and Juanita Tomsic ara the proud parents of twin boys born June 3. They reside at 3175 Gregson Ave. Bishop and Mrs. Reid H. Johnson of the Canyon Rim 2nd Ward have a new baby daughter born April 26. Robert and Shari Daynes, 3128 South 2850 East, have a brand new son, born May 20, after their four daughters. They will name him Robert Frederick Daynes, after his ever-so-prou- d father. His four big sisters are Debbie 8, Shari Joy 7, Kathy Jean 5, and Heidi Ann 2. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Calder, On June 20, 8:00 p.m., there will be held the Talent Program of the Canyon Rim 2nd. Ward. Alary Ann Johnson, well known in tne University of Utah prod-uctions such as "Coppelia" will be the guest star on the prog-ram. Sne was formerly a mem-ber of the ward. The theme of the evening will be "Video vs. Vaudevile.'' it will show a comparison of the two enter-tainments. It should be a very entertaining variety show. Highland View Ward is plann-ing us ward carnival to be held June 28. Games, sports, and prizes are on the agenda. There will be plenty of food, fun and frolic for all attending. The entire MIA of the High-land View West Ward boarded a city lines bus and went to the Deseret Gym for a swimming party on June 3. They went to the ward afterward for chili and all the trimmings. The party was lots of fun for every-one. The AHA of Canyon Rim Ward had a swimming party June 3 in the swimming pool of Kyle Coles at 3265 Elgin Drive. They went to the ward afterward for refreshments and dancing. Wedding bells will be ringing Monday, June 9, for Laurelle Erickson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max P. Erickson, 2371 East 2880 South, and Sterling Gerber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh J. Gerber, 4550 South 23rd East. The two are curr-ently students at the U of U. zovi v isner e, nave recently returned from a two-wee- k vacation back to New York. They met their son Kenneth there who had been serving on a mission to France for the past two years. Two missionaries are leav-ing this month from the High-land View Ward. Kent Mar-lowe, son of Bishop and Mrs. Hilding M. Marlowe of 3095 South 2850 East, is going on a far-ea- st mission in Japan and Korea. His farewell will be Junel5. Robert Reese, 3042 South 2850 East, is leaving for the Southern States Mission soon. Both boys will enter the mission home on June 23. They will be married in the Salt Lake Temple. Following a short honeymoon trip, the young couple will make their home in Salt Lake. Barbara Jones, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. R. D. Jones, 2330 East 30th South, received an engagement ring for her 20th birthday Saturday, May 31. Her fiance is Gayle Lyon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernal Lyon, 2351 East 30th South. They plan a late summer wedding. t " Paul Hale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Hale, 2400 East 30th South, is leaving Friday, June 6, for a six-mon- th tour of duty at Fort Ord with the National Guard.
