Show FUNERAL SERVICES OF S J CAMPBELL SR HELD AT VERNAL the funeral services of 0 S J campbell ST sr ot of hancock cove near roosevelt and an ashley valley pioneer ot of 1879 who died at the home ot of his son S J jr oct 29 1924 was held at the vernal first wd w d chapel hunady nov 2 A large crowd ot of asaley valley and roosevelt friends were in attendance at the services presided over by bishop hyrum B calder the speakers were john N davis and james al shatter shaffer the music was furnished by a special quartet consisting of H wali walter I woolley harold and gus davis and miss alta olson who sang il i need thee every hour TM though gh deepening trials and oh my father mr campbell was one of the very earliest pioneers of the ashley valley coming in the late tall fall ot of 1879 and spending the winter with his family in the ashley tort fort in the spring while attempting to ford the white river at ouray an accident to the terry boat sent his wife her sister and his own sister and a 14 year old boy to the center of the river where the high water caused the boat to dip and all the bodies were carried down stream never to be recovered coming back to vernal he filed on what is now known as the joseph rich home and built a fine brick house later he was married the third time to clara reynolds in 1881 who survives him his first marriage was to leone france in 1871 mr campbell was born in salt lake city feb 10 1850 and moved to Mill milleville millville ville cache county in 1864 |
