Show filyton Mrs. Grace Dalgleish A large crowd greeted students stud-ents of the Myton elementary school Tuesday when they presented pre-sented their award day program at the school auditorium. Principal Prin-cipal George Anderson was in charge. Darrell Dean, commander, Wm. R. Sands Post 5, of the American Legion, presented medals to the two outstanding 8th grade students, Wilda Faye Robison and Merrill Wood. Mrs. Wallace Dennis, Poppy chairman chair-man of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 5, presented cash awards to the winners of the poppy poster contest, Wilda Faye Robinson, 8th grade, and Beverly Anderson, 7th grade: Orson Giles of the senior division, di-vision, and Richard Fenn, of the junior division, received the pentathelon awards, while Allen Al-len Murphy received the Soil Conservation award, and Wilda Faye Robison and Mary Ellen Giles the awards for perfect attendance. at-tendance. Graduation exercises for the Roosevelt Stake Primary Sa-gull Sa-gull girls were conducted Monday Mon-day at the Stake house. Among the Myton girls who graduated were Dixie Lee Oberg, Fern Cark, DeAnna Parrish, Alta Hadden, Joan Funk, Joyce Peterson, Pet-erson, Phyllis Yergensen and Ermond Nielson. Others in at tendance were the mothers of the girls; Lula Gilbert, Seagull teacher; Martha Porritt, Primary Pri-mary president, and Beatrice Dennis. Certificates were awarded award-ed by Erma Anderton, 1st counselor coun-selor to the Stake Primary president. pres-ident. Fritz Schleinitz was taken to the Roosevelt hospital Sunday. The 8th grade girls enjoyed a picnic Wednesday at the Cronk ranch; and Thursday the entire class went to the Midway Hot Pots, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. George Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Aften Richens, and Bishop and Mrs. Glen Gilbert. Mrs. Emery Nielson returned Thursday from Salt Lake, where she had been receiving medical attention. Announcement has been received re-ceived of the arrival of a son, born May 17 to -Mr. and Mrs. Acel Nielson, at Rock Springs, Wyo. Ted Cooper and his son Gary, drove to Salt Lake Thursday with Charles Bertola. Gary was returned to the Primary Children's Chil-dren's hospital for further treatment. treat-ment. Mrs. Homer Robison, who recently re-cently underwent an operation in a Salt Lake hospital, was able to be, returned home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Parley Reid, of Tabiona, and their daughter and son-in-law, CQM and Mrs. Vern McLaughlin and two children, visited here Wednesday. The McLaughlins, who have been stationed on Midway Island, are npw on leave before reporting to Albuquerque, N. M. Mrs. Lowell Bingham and small daughter, arrived last week to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Peterson. They were joined Saturday by Mr. Bingham, who arrived from Salt Lake City to spend the weekend week-end and return his wife and daughter to their home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parker, of Paris, Ida., visited old friends here last Tuesday, while enroute from a trip to Detroit. They were guests of the Wilmer Mur-rays Mur-rays while here. Mrs. Parker, the former Helen Fletcher, was 1 i teacher in the Myton school several years ago. Mrs. Gladys Karren, Mrs. Pearl Williams and Mark Cook, of Vernal, were Dinner guests Sunday of Mrs. Lydia Peatross. Mr. and Mrs. Felix Quintana left Sunday for Denver to enjoy en-joy a week's visit with Mr. Quintana's sister, Mrs. Henry Torez. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Andrews and Mrs. Ila Wells, of Salt Lake, were weekend guests of Mr. and M.rs. Wm. R. Harris. On their return to Salt Lake City, they were accompanied by Mrs. Iva Adams, who plans to spend the summer in Midway; and by Mrs. Frank Monks, who will visit her sister, Mrs. Chester Hart-man, Hart-man, hospitalized in Salt Lake city, and her sister, Mrs. Wells. Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgleish visited Sunday with Mrs. Dal-gleish's Dal-gleish's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hart, of Duchesne. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Todd and children, were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. John Zirker, of .Arcadia. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hardinger and family, of Craig, Colo., spent Saturday and Sunday with Mrs. Hardinger's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Nielson. Announcement has been received re-ceived of the approaching marriage mar-riage of Lorraine Sharrie Henry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Frederick Henry, to Denny Milton Mil-ton Fitch. The marriage will be solemnized Friday, May 26, in the Salt Lake LDS temple, to be followed by a reception Saturday Sat-urday at Provo. The young couple will be married on the wedding anniversary of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dennis, formerly of Myton, who will also be honored at the reception. re-ception. The bride's mother, the former Laura Dennis, made her home here during her childhood. Mr. and Mrs. Syerl Dennis, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Dennis, and Mr. and Mrs. LaVor Dennis, of Myton, will attend the reception re-ception honoring their parents and the newlyweds. The Sunday night Bridge club enjoyed lunch this week at the Oasis cafe, and then gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Davenport for an evening of bridge, with four tables at play. Prizes were won by M.rs. James Dalgleish and Mr. W. H. Linck. Mrs. Rex Lamb entertained twelve guests Friday at a delightful de-lightful bridge luncheon at her home. Prizes went to Mrs. W. H. Linck and Mrs. Wm. R. Harris. |
