Show Ellen Bracken Dance Held To Raise Funds For Loud Speaker Under the auspices of the Sunday School and the group of square dancers, , a party was held Wednesday evening. Feb. 6. Punch, ice cream, cakes and pies were sold to obtain money to buy a loud speaker to be used in the chapel. A good crowd was out, and an enjoyable time was had. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Coston entertained at dinner Saturday for Rev. and Mrs. Wm. G. Trow and their two children and Evangelist Floyd E. Ray, a former inmate of Alcatraz Island Is-land prison. Mr. Ray gave several sev-eral sermons at the Baptist Church at Roosevelt. Mrs. Pearl Jenkins announces the arrival of her 33rd grand child a baby girl born to Mr. and Mrs. Jay Jenkins at the Roosevelt Hospital last week. Mrs. Ida Phillips was confined con-fined to her home last week De-cause De-cause of flu, and Mrs. Mary Burgess Bur-gess was unable to teach for two days because of sinus trou-ble. Mrs. Charles Bingham and son, Frank, and Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Brighton and baby, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Snyder in Altonah on Feb. 3. Miss Myrtle Collins made a trip to Salt Lake City recently to visit relatives and friends. Mrs. Rhoda Turner has gone to Moab to visit for some time at the home of a daughter. Mrs. Turner's son, Ray, has recently returned from Korea and is also visiting in Moab. He has been in service for several years. Clo'yd Wiscombe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiscombe, of Provo, formerly of Ballard, has joined the Coast Guard. Cloyd expects to report for duty in California right away. There has been an epidemic of flu throughout the school at Alterra, with quite an absentee list. Bryce White, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alden White, and Glen Womack, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Womack, went from Provo Pro-vo to Fort Douglas Friday to take their physical examinations for military service. The boys then came home to spend the week end. Lynn Bracken and Darrell Mc-Mullin Mc-Mullin were also home from the B Y U to spend the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Allred are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby boy, born at the Roosevelt Roose-velt Hospital last week. |
