Show Duchesne Thriller Ends In Fourth Win For Cougars There was never a second during dur-ing the course of the basketball game between the Eagles and Cougars last Friday night at Duchesne Du-chesne that boosters- of the league leading Union High team felt they had the game in the bag. . - An inspired and smooth playing Duchesne five pushed the leaders all the way and could easily have provided an upst, had the Cougars related for a moment. Coach Darwin Woodberry presented pre-sented a fast breaking team that has speed, plus the ability to hit from close in and from way out. Little. Jimmy Grant lead the Eagles as this speedster scored 15 points to cop high scoring honors for the night. Erl Simpson Simp-son and Udell Birch, with 10 and 11 points each made things .tough for the Cougars. The Eagles took the lead early in th,e first few .minutes and stayed out front until the middle of the second period before Coach Glen.Allred sent Johnny Perry to the center spot and the big fellow came through with a couple of tip-ins to put the Cougars Cou-gars back . in the game. An in and outer all season, Johnny played super ball the rest of the way to dunk six buckets from the field as well as doing a fine job on defense. High scorer for the Cougars was Gordon Eldredge, who turned turn-ed in a sparkling performance. He used his 6 feet and 1 inch to an advantage as he cleared the boards, rustled the ball consistently con-sistently and topped his team's scoring with 13. A junior this year, Gordon is easily the most improved player on the Congar team, and has truly won a starting start-ing berth. While the Cougars were winning win-ning a 52-45 game from the fighting Eagles of Duchesne, the Utes of Uintah were invading Altamont where they really caught on fire, running up a score of 81-57 to humble the Longhorns, who still haven't won a game in league play. Freestone with 23 points was the high scorer for the Utes. He was pushed by Bob Fieldstead, who tanked 19 for the Long-horns. Long-horns.
