Show Laramie, Wyoming Represents Denver LDS Stake M Men and Explorer basket-. basket-. ball will take the sports spotlight spot-light in Roosevelt next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 9, 10 and 11, when five L.D.S. stakes will send their best talent to compete for a place in the All-Church finals later this month. Roosevelt stake, who will be represented by the Roosevelt Roos-evelt Ward M Men team and two Explorer teams, will be the hosts. All games will be at Union High. Opening round of the three-night three-night affair, which will begin at 6 o'clock Monday, finds the Roosevelt Ward Explorer team meeting second place team from Uintah stake, with the Roosevelt Second Ward (runner-up team in the Roosevelt stake) meeting the top Scout team from Uintah at 7 p.m. The final game of the first day sends Tabiona against Mt. Emmons, representing Duchesne Du-chesne and Moon Lake Stakes, respectively, at 8 p.m. Two games are on tap for Tuesday and Wednesday, with the winner of the Tabiona-Mt. Emmons game meeting the Denver Den-ver stake winner; which is a team from Laramie, Wyoming. Uintah's entry, the Naples ward, will meet the Roosevelt ward in the final game at 8 o'clock. The winners of the second round will play for the regional title and a place in the big meet. The two Explorer teams who won the first night will play for the title at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, with the final M Men game at 8 o'clock. According to Cecil "Doc" Jenkins Jen-kins and E. Floyd Ross, co-chairmen of the tournament and members of the Roosevelt stake MIA board, several committees have been assigned to handle various phases of the first regional reg-ional M Men tournament ever to be played in this county. Following are the committees assigned: All-Star team. Cliff Memmott, Dick Owen and Ken Aycock; Floor Show, Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Buchana and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Brown; Presentation Pre-sentation of Colors, Carl Holley and Arvin Bellon; Advanced Ticket Sale, Don Truman; Sale of Tickets at Door, Anthone B Christensen and Leland Ottosen; Advertising and Publicity, Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Ross; Officials, Tal Wardle; Timing and Scoring, George Hacking; Trophy, Hollis G. Hullinger; Programs, Kelly Sprouse and Public Address system, sys-tem, Floyd Ross. During halves each night dances ' from various wards in the stake will entertain the group with all stakes in the Basin being asked to supply talent tal-ent for this feature. |
