Show Symphony Season Opening Being-Planned With the opening of the 1953-54 1953-54 Utah Symphony season just about four weeks away, sale of tickets is stepping up sharply, sharp-ly, according to David S. Rom-ney. Rom-ney. managing director. The ticket campaign opened last week and indications are that season tickt sales will reach a new high. "The season tickets can be obtained now with a double advantage," points out Mr. Romney. "Music fans not only get the finest seats in their own selection", but also get the tickets at a substantial sub-stantial saving over the individual indi-vidual ticket cost. The tickets also can be secured on an installment in-stallment basis, if desired," he pointed out. Guest artists who will appear with Conductor Maurice Abra-vanel Abra-vanel and the 86-piece Utah Symphony this year include Helen Traubel, famed Wagnerian Wagner-ian soprano, who has been so much in the news of late; Walter Wal-ter Shaw, pianist; Jascha Heif-etz, Heif-etz, violinist; Alexander Schein-er Schein-er on the great Tabernacle organ; or-gan; Grant Johannesen, pianist, Jakob Gimpel, pianist and Reid Nibley, pianist. In addition addi-tion the program will include the great Verdi Requiem with the combined University of j Utah choruses and soloists participating. |
