Show Mrs. Garda Seeley "' OBITUARY BERNARD GARDNER Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Windier Wind-ier and Mrs. M. Verona Winkler left Friday to attend funeral services in Provo for Mrs. Verona Ver-ona Winkler's brother. Bernard Gardner, 74, a former Utah resi-resident. resi-resident. Mr. Gardner died at his home in Brownfield. Maine1, of a heart attack. He had made his home there since 1940. He was born -, in Wanshin. Summit County, a son of Ira Walter and Alice Snow Gardner. The family lived for many years in Salem, Utah. In 1902 he married Alice Maria Ma-ria Mecham. She died on Jan. 18, 1926. He resided for manv years in Jensen, Uintah County, where he owned and operated the Jensen Mercantile Co.. In 1924 the family moved to Provo. where hi was, ah employe of the Utah. State Hospital. Since moving, mov-ing, to Maine he-had worked in the lumbering -industry. Active in. the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a high priest, and had been a counselor in the bishopric in Jensen Ward. ' Survivors include three sons I and' six daughters, Clifford E. Gardner, Los Altos, Calif.; Arthur Ar-thur M. Gardner, Las Vegas, Nevada; Alton F. Gardner, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Bernard (Verona) McCann, Redwood City, Ci-ty, California; Mrs. Darrel (Olen) Yancey, Pleasant Grove: i Mrs. Philo T. (Elma) Farns-1 Farns-1 worth. Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Mrs. Jaek (Ruth) Wentz, Las Vegas; Mrs. Wayne (Rhae) Thompson, I San 'Mateo, Calif.; Mrs. Rees H. (Lois) Anderson, Salt Lake Citv; 29 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Ira Gardner. Linwood, Calif.; Milton H. Gardner, Gard-ner, Aberdeen, Wash.: Eben Gardner, North Sacramento California; John R. Gardner, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Lila Gale and Mrs. M. Verona Winkler, Bluebell; Mrs. Willis Bedoes, Salem; and Mrs. Harry J. Rus-sel, Rus-sel, Oxford, Ohio. . Funeral services were held Saturday 'in Provo, with burial in the Provo City Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Bird have received word of the b'rth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Vern Bird on Nov. 29 at the Roosevelt Hospital. Vern is their son and is now serving in Korea, Ko-rea, but is due home anv time. He is scheduled to receive his discharge after two years' of service. His wife, the former Veloy Farnsworth. is making her home, in Talmage with her mother. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Bird have received word from another son, Orval Bird, who is. serving with the Navy in Korean waters, that he is in- a hospital suffering from rheumatism. |
