Show Two Roosevelt TeacSiers Gain Note As Authors Two Roosevelt educators. Merlin Mer-lin L. Killpack and Don N. Crittenden, are co-authors of an article in the November-Decem ber, 1952. issue of "The Condor," Con-dor," journal of Cooper Ornithological Orni-thological Club of Berkley, Cal. A research treatise, the article deals with "Starlings as Winter Residents in the Uintah . Basin." Mr. Killpack is a biology instructor in-structor at Union High School and Mr. Crittenden is a member of Roosevelt Junior High School faculty. ' The teachers' research reported report-ed in the article shows that Starlings have been wintering in Uintah Basin- since at least 1947, and perhaps earlier, but that the bird has not yet become be-come established as a breeding species in Utah. The birds' principal diet was shown to be . Russian olive fruits and .grains. Students of the former - Roosevelt High School aided in the research. |
