Show Makes First Trip .... Santa is Coming To Town Saturday Santa Claus will visit Roosevelt Roos-evelt stores next Saturday afternoon af-ternoon from 1 to 5 p. m. to greet the kiddies of the Basin who desire a pre-view of the jolly old chap, and to officiate with Mayor J. V. McLea n turning on the street lights and officially opening the Yule-tide Yule-tide season of 1952. Under the Kiwanis, Club's direction, di-rection, the very inadequate supply of street lights and decorations dec-orations have been strung about Main Street, supplemented with strips of silver foil, and with Kiwanis Ki-wanis President Floyd Petersoi presiding, the switch will be pulled that will add a bit of Christmas spirit to the city. A promise has been made bv the Community Christmas committee com-mittee this year, through Chairman Chair-man Lawrell Jensen, that early next summer decorative scenes and fixtures, plus more lights, will be ordered and made ready so Roosevelt's streets will mea sure up to other cities round about. Continuing the planned activ-I activ-I ities of the committee, the next I event will take place at the Elementary School on Thursday evening, Dec. 18, at 7:30. when the school will present its annual an-nual Christmas program, and visit from Santa Claus. Treats will be given at that function, but not on next Saturday. The really climaxing party for the kids of the entire area will be at the Roosevelt City Park on Saturday, Dec. 20, when the Lions Club will again present Jolly Old St. Nick with bags of treats. During the coming two weeks. Christmas caroling will be r. feature about town. The Junior Culture Club is in charge of this phase of the program and, according ac-cording to Mrs. Robert Montgomery, Mont-gomery, rehearsing will begin i this week by various groups which will carry on the activity. 1 |
