Show Avalon Ward Observes Xmas "Here We Come a Caroling" was the theme of the MIA assembly program Tuesday evening, under the direction of Ethel Durfee, the speech director. Invocation was by Kay Durfee; song, "First Noel;" theme, Grant Jarman; song, "Here We Come A Caroling," by Bishop and Delsa Durfee. Lula Dudley was the narrator; songs, "Deck The Halls With Holly," Twelve Days Of Christmas," "Little Town of Bethlehem," Away In A Manger," Man-ger," were sung by the congregation; congrega-tion; "Hark Shepherd," was played by Carolyn Stoddard;" "Lo Shepherd" and "Three Kings" were sung by the Special Interest Class; Carolyn Stoddard played for all the singing and Richard Durfee directed. After the program Grant Jarman showed films which Mrs. Hazel Wardle had taken at various times. Mariner McMullin gave the benediction. RELIEF SOCIETY MEETS A special Relief Society meeting was held Tuesday with Hazel Wardle conducting. Home Demonstration Dem-onstration Agent Jessie Ellers brought many beautiful gift suggestions sug-gestions and many clever toy suggestions sug-gestions and showed them to the ladies attending. High Councilman Marion Bowman attended both Relief Society and Primary meetings. meet-ings. SCHOOL PROGRAM The Avalon School presented its Christmas program Wednesday evening. The theme of the program pro-gram was "Christmas Cards." Ronald Dudley was the narrator; Mrs. Mildred Anderson played the piano and directed the chorus. As Christmas scenes were shown, the chorus sang Christmas carols. The 7th and 8th grade students painted the Christmas card scenes. Santa arrived at the close of the program pro-gram and gave everyone a sack of candy and nuts and an orange. The Lions club met Thursday evening at the home of Dee Brough. The Relief Society held their Christmas party Thursday evening in the recreation hall. Christmas carols were sung by the group under the direction of Hazel Wardle. War-dle. Leah Chandler accompanied at the piano. Games were played under the direction of Venice Durfee. Dur-fee. A delicious lunch was served and gifts exchanged. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wilson, of Chesterfield, Idaho, are the proud parents of a baby girl. The Wilsons Wil-sons are former residents of the community. Mr. and Mrs. Roy McKee and family, of Idaho- Falls, Idaho, arrived ar-rived Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. McKee's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William T. Chandler. The McKees will leave Sunday to return to their home. Mr. and Mrs. B. O. Colton, of j Roosevelt, were Christmas guests at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dudley. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Jensen and daughters spent Christmas day visiting at the Sheldon Lewis i home. Vern McMullen arrived home early Friday morning. He sailed , from Korea the first part of Dec, j landed in Seattle, Washington then came by train in Salt Lake City. Vern will enjoy a thirty-day fur- J lough visiting at the home of his j parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mariner j McMullen. Claude McMullen, of Wyoming, spent the Christmas weekend visiting vis-iting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McMullen. Mr. and Mrs. Mariner McMullen McMul-len entertained Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Frank McMullin at a birthday dinner in honor of Mrs. Etta MsMullin's 76th birthday. The Sunday School presented a Christmas program in Sunday School. Velma Pickup was the narrator with different classes giving giv-ing parts. The rv.'crs Quorum presented the program from Sacrament meeting Sunday afternoon and was under the direction of Fahy Durfee. Dur-fee. Sneakers were: Leo Jorgensen, Kay Diirfce and Ervin Young. A piano selection was played by Love Harris.
