Show Church Leaders Added To. Stake Nigh Council The Melchizedek priesthood and the leaders of the Relief Society of the Roosevelt stake, Dec. 19, sustained two alternate high coun-cilmen; coun-cilmen; a new stake Relief Society secretary.... a new president of the Third Elders quorum; an agricultural agricul-tural committee chairman, and approved ap-proved eleven prospective Seventies, Seven-ties, at their regular monthly leadership meeting Dec. 19. Chosen as aids to the present High Council were J. Rulon An-derton An-derton and Owen F. Burgener. Mr. Anderton had served as a member of the Roosevelt stake High Council for five years, being called by Ray E. Dillman at the time he was presiding over the Roosevelt stake as its president i when Dr. R. Vernon Larson was (called as bishop of the Roosevelt ward in 1951, Mr. Anderton was released as a high councilman and became first counselor in . the bishopric. He was released last March when the Roosevelt ward was divided. Mr. Burgener, a relatively new corner to Roosevelt, is currently serving as music instructor at Union Un-ion High School, His activity in the church dates back to his early live in Myton, where he and his wife lived until leaving to attend school at the BYU. in the early twenties. He served as stake mis sion president in the Hurricane stake, and prior to coming to Rooseveilt had been a counselor in the Helper ward bishopric. Chosen as the new Relief Society So-ciety secretary is Mrs. Owen F. (Inez) Burgener, who has been a stake and ward worker in this auxiliary of the church most of her life. She was stake president in the Hurricane stake, counselor and president in the Helper ward, and a counselor in the North Carbon Car-bon stake before moving to Price early in 1954. NEW ELDER PRESIDENT Wayne Russon was sustained Sunday to succeed Bert Angus as president of the Third Quorum of Elders. Mr. Angus and his counselors, coun-selors, Howard Andrews and Karl Johnstun were released. Mr. Russon Rus-son has not chosen his counselors. Jess Hullinger was chosen to act as chairman of the agriculture committee succeeding Robert Murdock Mur-dock who was released. Presented for approval of the priesthood relative to being called to serve as members of the 162nd Quorum of Seventy were, Mr. Angus, An-gus, Mr. Andrews, Glen Calder, Harold Timothy, Floyd Labrum, Lowell Roberts, Neill Jensen, Joseph Jos-eph E. Olpin, Devere Hancock, El-vin El-vin Bascom, and Venil Johnson. Each of these men must be interviewed inter-viewed by one of the general authorities au-thorities of the church before they will be ordained. |
