Show Adviser At Indian School For Girls Transferred Mrs. Margaret Cochran, girls' adviser at the Uintah Indian School for the past five years, received word last week that she was to be transferred to the Navajo Service, with headquarters headquar-ters at Crown Point. New Mexico. Mex-ico. She is to report for duty on May 1. Mrs. Cochran came to the Uintah Indian School, Whiterocks, from Concho, Oklahoma, Okla-homa, in 1947. Mrs. Cochran has made an outstanding contribution to the Ute Indian girls and women. She has given unselfishly of her time and energy to promote the welfare of the girls under her supervision. Under her direction, di-rection, the girls' division cf the school has been operated efficiently and she has made a home away from home for the Indian girls. She has won the respect of Indians and whites alike. The Ute people, and es- ; pecially the Indian girls and ! women, have lost a true friend in the transfer of Mrs. Cochran In the new assignment, she will be responsible for the girls' advisory activities at the large boarding school, in addition addi-tion to counciling and guidance duties for the area served. |
