Show Doris P. Morrill MIA Awards Given Sunday Evening Three classes were presented awards Sunday in tne girls' MIA organization. Those receiving re-ceiving class awards were Beehive Bee-hive Girls, Mia-Maids and J'. Gleaners.. Orson Harvey has been spending a few days at home this week. He is on leave from the Navy and is scheduled to report back to San Diego at the end of the week for assignment to overseas duty. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Lemon are the parents of a baby boy, born Friday, April 11. in the Roosevelt Hospital. Mrs. Lemon is the former Tess Goodrich. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Wallace, of Salt Lake, were Easter visitors visi-tors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Simmons and family, fam-ily, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Harvey, of Salt Lake, visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Harvey. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey McCon-kie, McCon-kie, of Salt Lake City, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Shar-don Shar-don Morrill. Mrs. George W. Bartlett and Mrs. Mark! Bartlett made a trip to Bonanza Friday to get their husbands, who have employment em-ployment there. Kay Moosmau was graduated Sunday from the Primary. Ilia Rhae McConkie and Lu-ana Lu-ana Glines attended the music meet and tryo'uts in Mt. Emmons Em-mons Thursday. Lela Bartlett, Velma Moos-man Moos-man and Pauline McConkie attended at-tended the speech contests in Price last week. The Sunday evening program was under the direction of the MIA. Talks were given by George Harvey and Lela Morrill; Mor-rill; retold story, Randall Mc-Kee; Mc-Kee; piano solo, Merrill Goodrich; Good-rich; "Sing, Glad Heart," was sune- by the Jr. Gleaner Girls Martha and Lela Morrill are staying in Roosevelt this week with Mr. and Mrs. Omni Win-terton. Win-terton. T r i d e 1 1 Elementary School was closed a few days last week due to bad roads. Lela Bartlett attended the State Speech Contest in Provo, Saturday. Mrs. Gertrude Turner and children, of Jensen, visited over the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Clara Bartlett. Pfc. Boyd Lemon arrived home Thursday from his air base in Tennessee for a week's visit with his wife and new baby son. Bishop and Mrs. Darrell Goodrich, Good-rich, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Merk-ley Merk-ley and Mrs. Nellie Merkley attended the Melchezidek Priesthood Priest-hood party in Vernal Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Norwood Hardy and family, of Vernal visited Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. LeRoy Morrill. Clyde Merkley was set apart Thursday evening as an Indian missionary. Speakers at Sacrament meeting meet-ing Sunday were Boyd Lemon, Charles Glines and Lawrencc Morrill. Among those attending the Tr. Gleaner and Jr. M-Men stake narty Saturday evening in Vernal Ver-nal were Virginia B. Goodrich. Glenna Ross. Velma Moosman. Joella Goodrich, Virginia K. Goodrich, Max Warren and Verle Behrman They also attended at-tended the testimonial meeting Sunday morning. Ellen Gilbert, of Arcadia, visited vis-ited Sunday at the Forrest Goodrich home. Lowell Behrman visited one day last week with his brother, Horace Behrman, and family. |
