Show Altamont Girls' i Day Has Many Added Features ALTAMONT "Sewing for the Family" set the theme for the fashion show which was the big day-time feature of Girls' Day at Altamont, Thursday, May 7. The annual style revue by the Home Economics Department has developed into a truly gigantic gi-gantic show since Mrs. Eliza J. Neilsen, head of the department, came to Altamont. Over two hundred articles of wearing apparel were modeled during the afternoon by 130 girls, women and children. The clothing was made by the girls in the regular school classes and by women enrolled in the adult classes. Following the fashion show the mothers were honored at a beautifully arranged tea. Working as co-chairman of the day's activities with Mrs. Neilsen was Mrs. Gladys Bell, instructor in girls' physical education. ed-ucation. Committees assisting Mrs. Neilsen and Mrs. Bell were as follows: fashion show Laura Jean Potts, Gayle Case, Ella Swasey, Jolene Neilsen, Twila Larson; tea Carol Lindsay, Lind-say, Erma Sorensen, Hazel Jenkins, Jen-kins, Alta Ames, Peggy Sorensen; Soren-sen; dance Connie Lyons, Margery Pearson, Sheila Evans. At night the spotlight was turned on the Girls' Day dance, with music by the Neva Hem-street Hem-street orchestra. |
