Show BASIN BRIEFS Creating widespread interest this week is the announcement of the engagement of Miss Jean Kenecht, of Boston, Mass., to Burr Eldredge, a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Harold Eldredge, of Roosevelt. Miss Kenecht is in her sophomore soph-omore year at the B.Y.U. Mr. Eldredge is a graduate of Duchesne high school, and spent 3V2 years in the Army during World . War II. He is a junior student at B.Y.U. A definite wedding date has not been set. Burr and Miss Kenecht, and his sisters, Erma and Eva, also students at B.Y.U., spent the weekend here. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Harm-ston Harm-ston spent the week in Salt Lake, going in Monday to attend at-tend the three-day convention of the Intermountain Restaurant Operators' association. They are expected to return Saturday. Correction: Diane Roberts' name was inadvertenly omitted from the list of little guests who attended the birthday party for Carol Felter on March 7. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sylvester, Syl-vester, of Provo, have been visiting vis-iting friends and relatives here and at Vernal, while in the Basin Ba-sin on a business trip. Mrs. Sylvester, Syl-vester, the former Ma.i Jacobs, is a granddaughter of Mrs. Sarah A. Jacobs, of Roosevelt. Ila Ruth Zimmerman, a student stu-dent nurse at St. Mark's hospital, hospi-tal, Salt Lake, and a friend. Max Ware, spent the weekend with Mr. and" Mrs. J. C. Zimmerman. Zim-merman. Mr. Ware was a guest speaker at Sacrament meeting Sunday evening in the LDS. church. Mr. and Mrs. Chester H. Hart-man, Hart-man, of Mt. Emmons, were guests of honor at a family dinner din-ner at the home of their son, Bruce, irr celebration t of their 42nd wedding anniversary. The following members of their family were present to extend well-wishes to their parents: par-ents: Mr. and Mrs. Max Hart-man, Hart-man, and family, Duchesne; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hartman, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hartman, and Mr. and Mrs. Floid Hartman, and their families. Tim Rockwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Rockwood, celebrated cele-brated his 9th birthday anniversary anniver-sary with a party at the family residence Tuesday afternoon'. Enjoying the occasion with Tim were Eddie Gagon, Robert Hacking, Dale Hanson, Dean McArthur, Arlene and Sidney Rockwood. A meeting of the Daughters ot Utah Pioneers will be held Friday, March 24, at 3 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Geneva Gilbert. The Roosevelt Fish and Game club will sponsor a series of wildlife pictures, to be shown Saturday at 8 p. m. in the Legion Le-gion hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge. The Blue and Gold jamboree, with a program, carnival, refreshments, re-freshments, drawings, auctions, sales, noise makers, confetti, dancing, arid all the trimmings, was presented Monday, March 13, in the Roosevelt Stake house. The jamboree was sponsored by the RHS band which reports a total pf approximately $300 cleared on the venture, and extends ex-tends thanks to the Roosevelt Commercial Club for Its $100 contribution, to the Lions club for $50, to the Roosevelt State Bank for $23, and to the various iocal business firms who aided with contributions of money and merchandise. Mrs. Jessie Robison, who is visiting in Salem, Oregon, with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Edstrom. was injured enroute from the train to her sister's home, when the automobile in which she was riding was hit by another car. Mrs. Robison received a bad head laceration and bruises. Alterra high school recently received the ASC sportsmanship trophy for outstanding conduct on the playing floor during the 1949-50 basketball season. The ASC, several months ago, announced an-nounced it would give a trophy to the team displaying the most outstanding conduct during the season. |
