Show Two Injured In (Si-way Crash East Of IFernal Two persons were injured, one of them seriously, in a three-car accident 15 miles east of Vernal on U. S. Highway 40, Sunday, about 7:30 a.m. Most seriously injured was Lor-in Lor-in L. Atwood, 51, Vernal, who was in "critical" condition in the Vernal Hospital with chest injuries in-juries and lacerations complicated by a heart condition. Also injured was LeRoy Suber, 64, Hawthorne, Calif,, who suffered suffer-ed severe shock and bruises and was taken to the Roosevelt Hospital. Hos-pital. Trooper Lowell E. Bair of the Utah Highway Patrol, investigated. He said the mishap occurred when a car driven by Mr. Surber attempted to pass a car driven by Raymond Gazell, 21, Salt Lake City. The Surber auto sideswiped the Gazell auto, then went into a side skid and collided with an oncoming on-coming vehicle driven by Ivan V. Sheffer, 29, Vernal, a son-in-law of Mr. Atwood. Mr. Atwood was a passenger in the Sheffer auto. |
