Show fleola Residents Sign Petition To Close Saloon A group of Neola citizens have signed a petition to close a pool hall and beer parlor in that community com-munity known as the Neola Club, on the grounds, that it is a "public "pub-lic nuisance, and is against the peace, morals, safety, and good citizenship of people residing in our vicinity." The petition was presented to the county commissioners at the monthly meeting of the commissioners commis-sioners June 7. So far no action has been taken by the commissioners commis-sioners on the petition, and such action will be delayed until more information on the subject can be gathered, according to the county clerk's office in Duchesne. Neola Club is located in the Clifford Bastian building and is operated by Melvin Davis. The following is the grievance addressed to the county commissioners: commis-sioners: Gentlemen: We the undersigned residents of Neola, Utah, and vicinity do hereby here-by petition your Honorable Board, to cancel, and to further refuse to licence the place of resort at Neola, Utah, known a3 the Neola Club, and operated as a pool hall and beer parlor, now being operated oper-ated by Melvin Davis, in the Clifford Clif-ford Bastian building. As grounds for such requested action we respectfully re-spectfully represent: . (Continued from Page 1) saddle horse race, barrel race, relay race, kid pony race, age 12 and under, and the greased pig chase, all of which will be held at the afternoon performance Monday. Officials of the rodeo have opened the show to anyone who desires to compete. All entries must be in by 4 p.m., July 2, An entrance of ten dollars will be charged for the saddle bronc riding rid-ing and bare back riding events, and all other regular rodeo events will have a five dollar charge for an entry fee. Entrance fees ranging rang-ing from two to five dollars will be made for the races. Trophies for the best average time in the main events will be given. Also purse of $25.00 for saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, rid-ing, the saddle horse race, and the relay race will be handed the winner of these events. A jackpot purse will go to the other events, except for the kid pony race, in which the winner's purse is worth ten dollars. The Neola rodeo is for church benefit. Admission will be one dollar for adults and fifty cents for children. The special program to be held at the Neola chapel Monday morning morn-ing will be in commemoration of the July 4th holiday. Officials of the rodeo are: presi- dent, Wayne Bastian; vice-president, Emerson Oberhansly; secretary, secre-tary, Melba Bastian; treasurer, Mae Oberhansly, and rodeo chairman Merv Betts. |
