The department said choice of the early morning opening hour was permitted this year for the first time in many waterfowl seasons sea-sons by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Wild-life Service. The Service sets maximum max-imum general regulations under which state seasons for migratory birds can be set. The Utah Fish and Game Commission Com-mission chose the early morning opening hour this year in a departure de-parture from the usual opening day noon starting time. Reason for this commission action was to give waterfowl hunters a longer period of shooting for the opening day of this season. The department reminded sportsmen sports-men who plan to hunt the opening day at normally congested state marshes to enter their hunting areas ar-eas as early as possible on October 15, as well as to exercise extreme care in gun handling during first hours of the early shooting on opening op-ening morning. |
