Show Ueola Rodeo Plans Changed, How July 3 - 4 Original plans have been changed since the .announcement that the Neola rodeo would be only a one day celebration Ihis year and once again Neola will stage its usual outstanding- two-day two-day attraction on July 3-4 according ac-cording to Tal Wardle, publicity chairman for the Neola Rodeo committee. Mr Wardle said the rodeo is sponsored by the people of Ne-,ith Ne-,ith the expectation of clearing enough money each year to keep the celebration on a firm financial basis. "The rodeo ro-deo is not a profit-making venture ven-ture " he said. "Everything we take in is put bacK into me rodeo." A tentative program will emphasize rodeo events and horse racing both days as follows: fol-lows: . July 3.4 Calf roping, with a $50 purse and all proceeds from the $10 entrance fee; bronc riding, $40 purse, no entrance fee; bareback riding; and a wild horse race. ' July 3 Pony race, $15 purse- one-half mile and 70 yards' free-for all, $80 purse; three-eights mile free-for-all, $60 purse; and chariot race, $100 purse. In each of these events there will be an entrance fee of 10 per cent of the purse. july 4 One-half mile and 70 yards free-for-all, $90; three eighth mile for two-year-olds, open $80; four, and one-half furlong free-for-all, $100; relay race, $80; chuck wagon race, $50 with $25 for the best out fit with steel tires. An entrance fee of 5 per cent of the respective respec-tive purses will be charged. All purses will be divided 50, 30, and 20 between first, second, and third place winners. All races must have five entries, with four to go. Darrell Gardner has been appointed ap-pointed racing chairman. |
