Show By Mrs. Merle Ross Win $6,000 On TV Anyone doubting that it "pays to be married" should consult Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Capson of Garden Grove, Calif. Both of these young people are paralytic and recently recent-ly appeared on the NBC's television televi-sion show, "It Pays To Be Married." Mar-ried." They were successful contestants con-testants and won $6,000. Wayne is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Capson. WIN STATE HONORS Gail Larsen, who made the County judging team at the Fair in Duchesne and his associates, won still more honors at the State Fair. These boys will now go to Denver in January. We surely wish them continued success. Mrs. Marvin Shields accompanied accompan-ied her son, Wanless Shields, of Bridgeland, to Tooele, Friday to attend the funeral of Alphus W. Droubay. Mr. Droubay was another an-other "tractor victim." He, Wanless Wan-less and Pherris Sagers were all buddies in their youth. Mr. Sagers lost his life just recently in another an-other tractor accident. It really seems farmers had better become more tractor conscious. Mrs. Clarence Horrocks attended attend-ed a Duchesne and Uintah County postmasters convention and banquet ban-quet held at the Frontier Grill in Roosevelt, Saturday. Mrs. Neldon Johansen and children chil-dren spent Sunday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Johnson. Miss Shauna Gilbert, of Salt Lake City, spent the weekend visiting vis-iting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert. Delmer Ross and Clarence Horrocks Hor-rocks were the Elders chosen to talk in Sacrament meeting in Tabiona, Tab-iona, Sunday night. Mrs. Gail Eldredge, of Vernal, is convalescing at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Johnson. John-son. She is recovering from a recent operation. The John Gilberts are jubilant over the results they are getting from their well drilling. At present pres-ent they are getting a gallon per minute flow, but plan on going deeper. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Ross and family, of Myton, visited at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Mar Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Ross. It was nice seeing Deon and Mildred Bird of Roosevelt at Sunday Sun-day School, Sunday. We have certainly cer-tainly missed the Bird family since they moved away. Sight-seeing at the State Fair this week were Mrs. John Capson, Eleanor, Richard and Rolland, Lois Terpening and Mr. and Mrs. Le-Grande Le-Grande Gilbert. Mrs. Max Mullins and children, of Salt Lake City, accompanied Rulon Gilbert home and will spend the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Gilbert. In-cidently, In-cidently, we are all glad to have the chance to get acquainted with her lovely new daughter. Gail Eldredge, of Vernal, spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Johnson. About the only thing making news around here lately is work. The men are all doing their best to get their belated harvesting done. It has been a wonder fall, but the late spring has resulted in such a late maturity of most everything. Charlie Jensen took Mr. and Mrs. Kent Jensen to Provo, Sunday, Sun-day, where Kent will be a freshman fresh-man at the BYU. Tony Chad, the new son of Mr. and Mrs. Chad Evans, isn't doing so well. He has a virus infection which the "doctor soon hopes to have under control. EXPRESS SYMPATHY ' We wish to take this opportunity opportun-ity to express our heart-felt sympathy sym-pathy to the Earl Jordan family of Duchesne, in the loss of their daughter. Mr. Jordan has been a most dependable mail driver in our community for several years. Mildred Gilbert went to Salt Lake City with her brother, Rulon. While he wa busy with the F.F.A. she visited her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Max Mullins. Charlie Jensen has purchased a number of registered Jersey cows to add to his dairy business. ATTEND FFA MEETING Rulon Gilbert attended the State F.F.A. meeting at the State Capitol Building in Salt Lake, Thursday and Friday. He was one of those chosen to stimulate and help organize or-ganize F.F.A. chapters in North Emery, South Emery, Coalville, Union and Uintah. The FFA members mem-bers in atendance at the meeting arranged an F.F.A. exhibit at the State Fair. Rulon holds the office of state reporter. WORKERS HONORED At Relief Society work meeting a beutiful quilt was made for Pauline Larsen. A social was held in conjunction with the regualr meeting in honor of Mrs. Elsie Bird and daughter, Mildred. They were each presented with a lovely gift. Mr. and Mrs. Milt Larsen, Pauline Paul-ine and Gail were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chad Evans. Ev-ans. Mrs. Cynthia Larsen went to Emery to attend a funeral- of Niels Nielsen. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mower and boys, of Roosevelt, spent Saturday evening at the Milt Larsen home. They brought their pictures they took on their trip to Yellowstone Park and showed the family. According to the "grapevine," we are due another shake-up in our ward. The group of young people that Pauline Larsen went to Palmyra New York with were fortunate enough to secure some very in-terseting in-terseting pictures. Friday night they were shown to a group of friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mont Poulson in Duchesne. Mr. and Mrs. Milt Larsen and 1 Pauline attended. |
