Show SOCIETY Pecicrv Oldroyd. Society Reporter LILA ODEKIRK WEDS Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilkins announce the marriage of their niece, Lila Lee Odekirk, to Varl W. Glover, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Glover, Salt Lake City. Wedding vows were solemnized solem-nized at a ceremony performed December 8. Miss Odekirk, a graduate of Roosevelt high school, class of 1948, has been attending Hen-nager's Hen-nager's business school during the past few months. The young couple will make their home in Salt Lake City. NEIGHBORHOOD SEWING Charming hospitality prevailed prevail-ed at the Louis Laris residence Wednesday evening, December 7, when Mrs. Laris entertained members of Neighborhood Sewing Sew-ing club. . Enjoying the evening s relaxation relax-ation were Mrs. Floyd Labrum, Mrs. Llewelyn Jenkins. Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Stanley Hall, Mrs. George Hacking, Mrs. Neldon Nyberg, Mrs. Guy Burton, Mrs. Howard Andrews, Mrs. LaRue Laris, Mrs. Frank Yack, and Mrs. Don Critten-don. Critten-don. JUST--A-MERE A lovely Christmas atmosphere atmos-phere prevailed Friday evening, December 9, at the Eugene Harmston residence when members mem-bers of Just-A-Mere club convened con-vened there as guests of Mrs. Tom White. A delectable dessert luncheon lunch-eon was served at small tables. Covers were laid for Mrs. Clair Larson, Mrs. Eugene Harmston, Mrs. Verlen Labrum, Mrs. Dar-rell Dar-rell Walker, Mrs. Ervin Wardle. Mrs. Reva Owen, Mrs. Ed Labrum. La-brum. Mrs. Richard Adams, Mrs. Farrell Wilkins and Mrs. Grant Killian. Following luncheon, bridge formed the evenings diversion. Prizes went to Mrs. Larson, Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Wardle. BRIDGE LUNCHEON It was luncheon for eight and an afternoon of cards at the Gordon Harmston residence Tuesday, when Mrs. Harmston entertained a group of friends. White chrysanthemums; artistically ar-tistically arranged, made a striking background for the afternoon's af-ternoon's diversion' enjoyed by Mrs. Howard Harrison, Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, Mrs. Robert Huish, Mrs. Morris Lewis, Mrs. Glenn Wyler, Mrs. Wayne Ma-iin, Ma-iin, and Mrs. Paul Murphy. Prizes were won by Mrs. Wyler and Mrs. Huish. BRIDGETTE Mrs. Verland Nelson entertained enter-tained members of Bridgette club at luncheon and bridge at the Roosevelt Hotel banquet room, Thursday evening, December De-cember 8. Seasonable decorations graced three small tables, arranged with places marked for Mrs. Johnnie Cook, Mrs. Steve Bel-Ion, Bel-Ion, Mrs. Ned Bellon, Mrs. Parley Par-ley Rawlings, Mrs. Clair Larson Lar-son Mrs. Vean Bair, Mrs. Clem Labrum, Mrs. Mont Killian, Mrs. Elmer Eldredge, Mrs. Mar-veil Mar-veil Neilson, Mrs. Orson Stevens, Stev-ens, and Mrs. Bill Murdock. Bridge prizes were won by Mrs. Neilson, Mrs. Rawlings, Mrs. Ned Bellon and Mrs. Steve Bellon. CULTURE CLUB Members of the Culture club met In regular session Monday evening, at the home of Mrs. Parley Rawlings, with Mrs. Stanley Hall as co-hostess. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Beth Broden, president, and plans were discussed dis-cussed for a Christmas party to be held December 26. An interesting discussion was presented on problems of the American home by Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, chairman of the committee com-mittee on the home in the District Dis-trict of Federation of Women's clubs. She was assisted by Mrs. Howard Harrison, and Mrs. Paul Murphy. Members present included Mrs. Kenneth A y c o c k, Mrs. Beth Broden, Mrs. Elmer Eldredge, El-dredge, Mrs. Gordon Harmston, Mrs. Verlen Labrum, Mrs. Floyd Labrum, Mrs. Lynn Labrum, Mrs. LaVere Labrum, Mrs. Morris Mor-ris Lewis, Mrs. Orvil Rudy and Mrs. Bennie Schmiett, SURPRISE PARTY The Harold Gardner residence was the scene of gay festivities Tuesday evening, December 13, when Mr. and Mrs. Gardner and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rogers entertained en-tertained at a surprise party honorifig Mrs. Jack McArthur on her birthday anniversary. A delicious baked ham dinner, din-ner, served against a festive Christmas background, was enjoyed en-joyed by Mr. and Mrs. Jack McArthur, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hall, Miss Eula Rae Mowrey, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Wardell, Miss Verona Gardner, Bert Mc-1 Neil, Miss Darlene Lamb, Ben-1 nie Reynolds, Mrs. Frank Mc-Clure Mc-Clure and the hosts. I Games rounded out the evening, eve-ning, with prizes going to Mrs. McClure and Mrs. Gardner. TUESDAY BRIDGEj White ehryganthemums formed form-ed the striking baekgrpund for the delightful luncheon given by Mrs, Eugene Harmston at hep home pn J3ecembor 15. CELEBRATES BJRTHDAY Little Mike Ruppel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Ruppel, celebrated cel-ebrated his fourth birthday anniversary an-niversary with 8 party at the Ray Jordan residence, Tuesday afternoon. I Games and record selections formed the afternoon's entertainment enter-tainment for Mike and his little guests, after which refreshments were served. A beautiful birthday cake, adorned with yellow and white roses arid topped witih four glowing yellow candles, elicited enthusiastic "oh's" and "ah's" from Dickie Harmston, Paula Murphy, Chad Mullins, Bob and Nancy Harrison and the guest of honor. |
