Show HUNTERS, BE CAREFUL WITH FIRE! There has ' been no moisture fall on the forest for 32 consecutive consec-utive days, or since September 11. This lack of mositure. along with comparatively warm days, has created severe burning conditions con-ditions on the forest and range lands, according to Forest Supervisor Su-pervisor Wm. D. Hurst. Beginning October 20, thousands thou-sands of hunters marched into the national forests and on adjacent ad-jacent lands in search of their deer. A carelessly flipped cigarette, cig-arette, an unattended campfire, or a warming fire left unextinguished unextin-guished could start a conflagration conflagra-tion that would destroy timber, game and forage, and denude a watershed. i As a fire prevention measure, j hunters are urged to observe the following rules during the hunting season: 1. Never leave a campfire or warming fire unattended. . 2. Stop and sit down to smoke and be sure the cigarette is out before throwing it away. 3. Never throw- a burning cigarette cig-arette from a moving auto. 4. Put out any fires vou discover dis-cover if you can. If it is too ! large for you, report it to the i nearest forest officer, game war. den, or sheriff as soon as possible. pos-sible. i Remember Only you can i prevent forest fires! |
