Show Flower Show Rules Announced By Mrs. tl. S. Jordan ' Mrs. R. S. Jordan, chairman of the U B I C Flower Show, announces that all entries must be at the Roosevelt Stake House by 10 a. m., Wednesday, August 6. At that time up-state judges will judge the flowers. The flower show will be open to the public at 1 p. m., following the judging. Following is a list of rules concerning arrangements: 1. Arrangements of one seasonal sea-sonal flower, with or without accessory foliage and accessories. accessor-ies. 2. Arrangements of mixed plant material. 3. Arrangements of one color or of a specified color harmony. 4. Table arrangements. 5. Small arrangements. 6. Miniature arrangements. 7. Unrestricted classes. 8. Specimens either 1 Or 3 flowers may be exhibited. Three inches overall (flowers and container) is the recommended recom-mended maximum measurement for miniatures. Scale is the most important principle to be applied in making miniatures, in which tiny . flowers, leaves and frail grasses or other foliage must be used. A small arrangement is the designation for arrangement just a little larger than miniatures. minia-tures. Table arrangements present a special problem to the exhibitor. exhib-itor. Here the composition in volves an architectural design in which the flower arrangement arrange-ment is only a part of the whole rather than a dominant element. The two chief types of table compositions are: 1. Place settings for a specified speci-fied number of seated guests. 2. Buffet service for any number. num-ber. Elements of the flower arrangement ar-rangement are: beauty, simplicity, simpli-city, expression and harmony. Elements of design include line, form, pattern, texture and color. |
