Show Salt Lake City Boy Accidently Shot In South Myton About 11:30 a.m., June 15, Robert David Rowley, 14.. of Salt Lake City, accidently discharged a .22 calibre rifle bullet into the calf of his right leg. The boy had gone prairie dog hunting about l2 mile from the house of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brotherson, in the Pleasant Valley area south of Myton, when he attempted to shoot a prairie dog, but the rifle failed to discharge. He took the bolt out of the rifle and then put it back in. While inserting the bolt, he had lowered the rifle, so when it accidently discharged, the bullet struck him in the calf of the right leg. He walked back to the Brother-son Brother-son home, holding the wounds with his finger to staunch the bleeding. Mrs. Brotherson saw him returning to the house and met him. She called her husband, and they took him to the doctor's office in Duchesne, but the doctor was not in, so they rushed him to the Roosevelt Hospital where he was treated. Ralph is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Rowley of 1446 Talisman Drive, Rose Park, Salt Lake City. |
