Show 7 Students Gain Scholarships To Utah Colleges Seven graduating seniors from the Roosevelt high school have been selected for college scholarships schol-arships to the three senior colleges col-leges and two of the state's junior jun-ior colleges, and two others were named as alternates. According- to LaMont Nielson, chairman of the scholarship committee com-mittee of the local high school. Miss Jean McClellan, valedictor ian ot the i9ol class, was the winner of the scholarship to the Utah State Agriculaural college at Logan. The University of Utah accepted the application of Rawlin Spencer; and two students, stu-dents, Maurine Gilbert-and Al-ta Al-ta Jackson are the recipients of the two scholarships presented present-ed annually by the Brigham Young university at Provo. Nita Beth Harrison and Leah Duncan are the alternates. Don Horrocks was awarded the Carbon college scholarship at -Price and Joe Reidhead, Jr., gained a like honor from Dixie College at St. George. Richard Hurley, class salutatorian, gain-led gain-led the Burgess Foundation scholarship schol-arship presented annually by the children of Mrs. Donna Burgess. Bur-gess. This is good for entrance into any of the three senior colleges col-leges in the state. Richard has selected the B.Y.U. as the cam-' cam-' pus where he will pursue his col- lege training. At a 'special award assembly 80 members of the R.H.S. stu-I stu-I dent body received awards for 'having maintained a B-plus or above average during the school l year just ended. Also at the ! award assembly, students who jhad contributed to the success of the year in government, ath-I ath-I letics, etc., received citations for their efforts. f |
