Show Utah Can Crops Exceed Germany Netherlands Total Utah farmers produce more vegetables for the state's can-i can-i ning industry than are grown for processing in Germany and I the Netherlands combined, ac-i ac-i cording to American Can Co. Utah canners last year processed pro-cessed 149,500 tons of vegetables, vege-tables, compared with 56,989 tons canned in Germany and 69,997 tons of vegetables packed in the Netherlands, it was point, ed out by Claude Parry, inter-I inter-I mountain representative for the 'can-making firm which manufactures manu-factures millions of cans annually an-nually for the state's packers. Mr. Parry also noted that Utah production of canning crops was nearly eaual to the indivadual output of the United I Kingdom, with 152,670 tons, and France, with 152.604 tons'. "This large production by Utah farmers is an outstanding example of the teamwork between be-tween farmer, canner and can-maker," can-maker," Mr. Parry declared, "and is made economically possible pos-sible by markets provided bv the state's canning industry, which is more highly developed than in almost any foreign country coun-try in the world." |
