Show I Sports In The Open Spaces FIVE DAY PHEASANT - I HUNT IN UINTAH BASIN The Fish and Game Commis- sion of Utah Monday approved what will be accepted by game hunters as "big news" as they announced a five-day pheasant hunt for several counties in the state, among which are Duchesne Du-chesne and Uintah counties. Others are Cache, Box Elder, Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah and Emery. In Millard county's west side, the season is extended extend-ed to seven days. Date for the pheasant hunt opener is Nov. 6, which- is a Saturday. There are no changes chang-es in the bag limit, or other rules generally followed during dur-ing the game-bird hunt. The 1 commission announced they will control the hunt very carefully in other words, they will have checking stations set up, and the hunter will be given the once-over daily. Bag limit per day is three, and six is the total for possession by anv hunter. Among the many things on their schedule, the commission announced more good news for waterfowl ' hunters, as they opened the Strawberry valley and reservoir area for duck and goose hunting. F-S SALE OF DEER PERMITS IS NOW UNDERWAY Sale of all special deer hunting hunt-ing permits for the 1954 seasons began Sept. 7, at deer permit sales offices over the state, according ac-cording to spokesmen for the Utah Department of Fish and Game. They will remain on sale until un-til the authorized number of permits are sold or until the close of the deer season in each area. Utah's Board of Big Game Control scheduled special permit per-mit deer hunts in 22 areas of the state this year. In each instance in-stance the removal of additional addition-al animals is vital if a balance with the available range is to be maintained. Sportsmen planning to apply for such a permit should note the following information regarding re-garding such applications: v Special deer permits are sold on a first come, first served basis bas-is with equal priority to mailed and personal applications. It is unlawful to' possess more than one special permit during the 1954 deer season. Applications will be received at the "Deer Permit Sales Office" Of-fice" in the community listed for each hunting area. The one and only exception to this ruling rul-ing is the sale of permits for the special two-deer post season Dagg-ett-Clay Basin hunt.
