Show National Parks Scooters To Train Leaders Two cars from Provo will arrive ar-rive in Roosevelt tomorrow, Oct. 7, bringing the members of the Utah National Parks Leadership Training committee to the Basin for the purpose of training the instructors in-structors who will direct the University Uni-versity of Scouting slated to begin Friday, November 4, 1955, and run for six weeks. James E. Bacon, Roosevelt district dis-trict chairman, is heading the University Uni-versity of Scouting committee which consists of members from all four Uintah Basin Scout districts. dis-tricts. Rowan C. Stutz will be the instructor in-structor in the Boy Scout department; depart-ment; Jack F. Dexter, VernaL will direct the Cub Scout leaders. Louie Fife, Vernal', has accepted the in-structorship in-structorship of the Explorer leaders, lead-ers, and Ferron Hacking, Vernal, is slated to head the Guide Patrol leaders. To Train Commissioners Commissioners will be trained under the direction of George Hacking, Roosevelt district commissioner. com-missioner. Elwood Carter, Tabiona, and Elvin Barker, Duchesne, will teach the unit committees how to perform their responsibilities. Paul Murphy, vice-president of the Utah National Parks Council', will head the district committee department. Purpose of the two hour special meeting tomorrow night is to orientate or-ientate the instructors on the best methods available for teaching each department. The men who will come from Provo have directed the University of Scouting there for years. They will be headed by Stanley Leonard. Training sessions are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on six Fridays Nov. 4, 11, 18, 25;. Dec. 2, and 9. A registration fee of 500 will be charged to defray expenses. All adults working in any Scouting capacity are urged to attend this training opportunity. |
