Show BASIN BRIEFS Mrs. Themis Costuros, Mrs. Cliff Angus, Mrs. Jack Redmond, Red-mond, Mrs. Bert Burgess and daughter, Joanne, attended a luncheon Saturday afternoon at the Hotel Utah, Salt Lake City, in honor of Mrs. Marie Sheehe, national president of the American Amer-ican Legion auxiliary. They also al-so attended a meeting and reception re-ception in her honor, Saturday evening at the Legion home. Bonnie White and M e 1 b a Richman drove to Salt Lake City with Dr. Glenn Wyler, Tuesday. They returned Wednesday Wednes-day evening. Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Workman have received word that their son, Chalmer, has been appointed appoint-ed head instructor supervisor at the Shepard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tru-jillo Tru-jillo and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Halen were dinner guests Sunday Sun-day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Coston, of Ballard. Arriving last Thursday by special bus were the following Wasatch Academy students, who spent their spring vacations with their parents: Joyce Jordan and friends, Marilyn Larsen and Maxine Stocks; Yvonne Fretwell and her room-mate, Jean Conway; Con-way; Nancy and Bob Marimon, Whiterocks, and friends Nancy Johnson and Robbin Hall; Hal Helphrey, Ft. Duchesne, and school pal, Jerry Blankenship; Garry Mullins and his guest, Melvin Rawles; Gerrie and Jo-Anne Jo-Anne Griffin, Whiterocks; Kath-erine Kath-erine and Grace Stenberg, Joanne Jo-anne Oberhansley, Jimmy Sut-teer, Sut-teer, and Wayne Faulkner, Ft. Duchesne. Kent Nelson, Howard Galloway, Gallo-way, Jack Nixon, and Ray Neil-son, Neil-son, BYU students, spent the weekend at home. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Woodward, Wood-ward, of Salt Lake City, arrived ar-rived Tuesday to take care of property interests here, before going to Vernal to spend a few days with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Burke. Orienne Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Newt Miller, of Monarch, has just graduated with honors from the stenographic stenogra-phic department of the Hena-ger Hena-ger School of Business in Salt Lake City. Orienne graduated from Roosevelt Roos-evelt high school with the class of '49. Two cases of chicken pox and one of measles were reported in Duchesne county for the week ending March 31. Uintah county reported one case of pneumonia two cases of measles, and one of German measles. Major and Mrs. Randall Felt-er Felt-er and family, pf Fort Lewis, Washington, visited Sunday and Monday in Myton with Mr. and Mrs. Don Felter, in Mid-view Mid-view with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Felter, and in Roosevelt with Mr. and Mrs: Marion Felter. They will visit in Wyoming with Mrs. Felter's parents before returning to Fort Lewis, Katheryn Rudy, who is working work-ing in Salt Lake City, is visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Czar Rudy. The Roosevelt P-.T.A. will sponsor an apron and overall dance at the Roosevelt elementary elemen-tary ym, Thursday evening, April 6 at 8 p. m. Proceeds from the dance will be used for the purchase of playground equipment. equip-ment. A meeting for the election of officers will be held at 7:30 p. m. It is urged that teenagers as well as adults attend. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dawson and Frank Roberts, of Frovq, visited Monday with Mrs, Anna Roberts. Mr. and Mrs. Curt Walton returned re-turned Wednesday evening from a vacation trip to Seattle, where they went to meet their daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie (Helen) Hatch, and their baby, who have been living in Fairbanks, Alaska, stationed with the Army Air Force. The Hatches returned to Roosevelt Roos-evelt with the Waltons and will remain here for a visit. - Joanne Walton, a student at Wasatch Academy, and Garry Walton made the trip with their parents. Joyce Shulthess, of Vernal, spent the weekend with Ber-nice Ber-nice Felter. Gordon K. Allred, airman, USN, husband of the former Maxine Gardner, of Neola, has reported to the Fleet Air Elec-tronics Elec-tronics Training Unit, Pacific, based at the Naval Air Station, San Diego, Calif., which trains selected groups of officers, and. men to operate mM mnintuin the complex equipment used on board aircraft of the Air Force, Pacific Fleet. Mrs. J. E. Stenberg, of Ft. Duchesne, was hostess at a dinner din-ner Sunday evening at the family fam-ily home, in celebration of the birthday anniversaries of Mr. Stenberg and their daughter, Grace. Ardln Drollinger, q f Roosevelt, Roos-evelt, recently purchased a purebred Aberdeen-Angus bull from the Ashley Valley Angus herd, Vernal, according to word released this week by the American Amer-ican Aberdeen-Angus Breeders' association. Loryn Ashcraft, of Big Lake, Texas, was an overnight guest at the Marion Felter home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ray McClellan and daughters, Jean and Glen-da, Glen-da, and ''Shorty" McClellan, are vacationing on the west coast. They will visit relatives in Idaho before returning home, April 15. |
