Show Dairy Herd Got Start In '23 On Hartman Farm Back in 1923 Chester Hartman, Hart-man, of Mt. Emmons, imported a Shorthorn bull and a couple of cows into the Uintah Basin with the idea of building up a dairy herd of Shorthorn cattle. Today he and his sons can boast one of the finest dairy set-ups in the Basin. Some might say Chester Hartman was lucky in making plans for a dairy herd, but the wiser ones must call it vision he recognized the potentialities po-tentialities of the Uintah Basin as a dairy center. Although the writer of this brief item did not make a close study of the Hartman dairy program pro-gram on his first visit to their modern ranch at Mt. Emmons last Saturday, it was observed that they have an ideal set-up for carrying on their expanding-program. expanding-program. The Hartmans were among the first to qualify as Grade 'A' milk producers, and are one of the largest producers in the area. |
